Cartier Square Drill Hall

Considered as one of Ottawa’s oldest buildings, the Drill Hall has throughout its over hundred year life been only a drill hall. It was built in 1879 beside the turning basin on the Rideau River. It is a heritage listed building, and is owned and operated by the Department of National Defense.

We were engaged in 1989 to undertake an investigative study, to determine the causes of many building envelope problems and recommend the means to remedy the problems in ways sympathetic to the heritage structure.
