Our role on this project was Project Architect and Designer. We were retained by Murray Murray Associates Inc., architect of record, to prepare a design sufficient to submit to the City of Ottawa for approvals for minor variances to the zoning bylaw, and for a Site Plan Control Agreement.
This project involved the development of a new Program of Requirements and concept design of 1400 cars underground parking structure, one 13 storey office building, two 5 storey apartment blocks, and one mixed-use commercial and residential building. The entire building complex measures 553,000 square feet.
One important concept explored in the re-distribution of the permitted uses and building areas, was the creation of the low rise mixed use building fronting onto Preston Street. This was designed to be compatible with the neighbourhood and to be “street friendly”.
